I am off to see the Feelies in Boston tonight. It's been seventeen years, and I just can't wait any longer. They were the best live band on the planet way back when, and if they are even a shadow of their former selves, I'll be thrilled.
Before I go, I just want to start an unfounded rumor:
The first two Feelies albums, Crazy Rhythms and The Good Earth, will be re-released on Bar/None Records in the summer/fall of 2009.

Hi, Daniel. I share your enthusiasm about the return of the Feelies. They were among my favorite bands when I was in college in New Jersey back in the 80s, and The Good Earth was in constant rotation in my dorm room for years (and is still a constant companion). I've downloaded a few of their reunion shows, and they're a real delight. Hope they make their way to California.
As you left a comment on my own Blog about the No on 8 Proposition -- a rare polical post on my otherwise music-focused blog -- I thought I owed you a response. Yes, I am disappointed that Obama (and the democrats in general) are not more favorably inclined towards gay marriage, by I understand political realities. They'll get there. After all, there is no rational basis to deny civil rights to gay couples, and people are gradually moving towards that position (save religious fundamentalists and, yes, bigots, from whom I expect little). That said, you should note that Obama has announced his opposition to Prop 8 (which would eliminate the equal right to marriage in the California Constitution as upheld by the California Supreme Court). So he's in the right place on that particular issue.
